DT Max T2

  1. Version highlights

    1. Known issues fixed in version 23.15

      1. Part 2 of Schedule 500 not being completed

Part 2 - Ontario small business deduction of Schedule 500 was not being completed in a situation where line 430 of Schedule 200 was nil and the corporation had adjusted aggregate investment income (AAII) from Schedule 7. This issue has been fixed with this version of DT Max T2 so that Part 2 of Schedule 500 will be completed.

      2. Quebec form CO-1029.8.33.TE not being generated

The issue where Quebec form CO-1029.8.33.TE was not being produced in certain scenarios with version 23.01 of DT Max has been corrected in this version. This was a problem with the participation of the form.

    2. CRA RC59/RC59X (Federal Authorize a representative or Cancel a representative forms)

The existing RC59 and RC59X forms have been discontinued. The T1013, RC59, and NR95 have been combined into the new form AUT-01, Authorize a Representative for Access by Phone and Mail. The RC59X has been replaced by the new form AUT-01X, Cancel authorization for a representative. These two new forms can only be used to request offline access and, if mailed to CRA, will replace and cancel any existing authorization, including any online authorization.

According to CRA requirements, the new AUT-01 and AUT-01X forms that provide for offline access only should not be included in the software. Therefore, as of version 23.15 of DT Max T2, RC59 and RC59X forms for offline access have been deleted.

    3. CRA Business Consent or Cancelling Business Consent

Following CRA's removal of the RC59/RC59X forms, any reference to the electronic transmission of the RC59/RC59X has been rephrased as CRA Business Consent or Cancelling Business Consent.

    4. Schedule 12, AT1 Schedule 15 and CO-400: Accelerated Canadian development expenses and accelerated Canadian oil and gas property expenses

Federal Schedule 12 has been updated in order to include new lines associated with the accelerated Canadian development expenses incurred during the year in Part 5 (Cumulative Canadian development expenses) of the form. In addition, new lines associated with the accelerated Canadian oil and gas property expenses incurred during the year have been added in Part 6 (Cumulative Canadian oil and gas property expenses) of the form.

At this time, a revised version of Alberta Schedule 15 has not been released by the Alberta government. However, in order to harmonize with the federal government changes noted above, calculation changes have been made on the Alberta Schedule 15 with this version of DT Max T2.

Multiple keyword revisions have been made in order to properly implement the changes mentioned above. Please review the keyword ResourceAdd with the applicable Resource group in order to ensure that the correct option or options have been chosen and adjust accordingly.

These changes may affect federal Schedule 12, Alberta Schedule 15 and Quebec CO-400.

    5. CRA's T2 Auto-fill service: New T2 capital loss balance amount available in May 2020

In this version of DT Max T2, the T2 capital loss balance amount will be available in the T2 Returns Balance data in May 2020.

For more information on this exciting feature, please consult the CRA T2 Auto-fill Service and the Procedure to download T2 tax data from the CRA documents, available in our knowledge base.

    6. Schedule 346: Decrease of the small business rate and the general corporate rate

As announced in the Nova Scotia budget, effective April 1, 2020, the general corporate tax rate will decrease to 14.00% from 16.00%. The small business rate will be reduced from 3.00% to 2.50%, also effective April 1, 2020. No changes are proposed to the $500,000 small-business limit. This form has been updated to reflect the above changes.

    7. Alberta return: Amount enclosed (line 91) with AT1 when Internet filing

Due to a request from the Alberta government, a change has been made to line 91 of the AT1 return should the corporation have a balance due. If the tax return is being Internet-filed, line 91 will be zero since an enclosed payment cannot accompany a Net filed tax return. Therefore, even though an entry for enclosed payment has been made either through the data entry (via the PaymentCode keyword group) or through the Preferences menu >User's defaults >Tax return tab, line 91 will show 0. No change has been made if the AT1 return is being paper filed.
